New opportunities for the notaries

Legislation on notaries has changed significantly in a progressive direction. Among new opportunities there are: appeal to a notary without a personal appearance and certification of the deals by several notaries (FZ-480 dated December 27, 2019).

The law on notaries has been replenished with articles that provide new opportunities to the participants of the deals. Below we will list some of them.

Article 44.3 deals with the procedure for applying to a notary without a personal appearance. Now, the presence in the office of a specialist will not be required to perform almost a dozen types of notarial actions. These include certification of the fidelity of a deal, demanding extracts from the registry of pledges, certification of equivalence of electronic documents in particular.

Article 53.1 deals with the possibility of notarizing one deal by different notaries. The draft contract is created in the information system and after that the parties of the deal put their electronic signatures. Then the notaries certify the document with a qualified electronic signature. This operation is noted in the notary registries.

Some other provisions of the law have also been updated.

The law will begin to work one year after its official publication (December 28, 2019).
